Romans 8:28–30 | The Order of Our Salvation

Having opened the topic that is Election in Romans 9, we're hopefully in a better place to take a look back at Romans 8:28-30. The careful reader will notice a string of connected verbs that are performed by God and applied to the spiritual life of the believer in Christ Jesus: verbs like foreknew, predestined, called, justified, and glorified. All these are sequentially applied to the believer with the united goal of our conformity to our Lord + Saviour Christ Jesus, and have therefore been aptly called 'The Order of Salvation.' So this week I might suggest our message time will include more teaching than preaching, but the aim is surely that we can have both: so that as we learn with our heads, our hearts will respond with praise as we see how eternally and graciously committed God is to our salvation in Jesus.
