This week we look at Romans 13:1-7. In this section, Paul writes about the relationship between believers and the state. Paul’s relationship with the state was reasonably positive, as Rome saw Christianity as a version of Judaism, which had won many freedoms. But this relationship has not always been a happy one! In Acts 5 we see the apostles declaring that they must obey God rather than men. We will explore the principles Paul lays down and think through what they mean for us at a time when the State is becoming increasingly hostile to all things Christian.
