“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” It might be common perception to say everyone is God’s child. That sounds nice, and it sounds loving. It sounds inclusive too. But is it true? This text would imply it’s not, and that there’s a possible distinction between one person and another. For while all people are God’s ‘creatures’, not all people are God’s ‘children’. This weekend we focus on the wonderfully comforting reality of Christianity: that those in Christ, by His Spirit, have been adopted into God’s heavenly family. Are you in? |
