Psalm 22 | Where is God when suffering?

In Psalm 22 we find a theme which makes up the largest majority of the Psalms: lament. There seems to be no end of ways to suffer, and no end to the opportunities to suffers. In every sphere of life, hurt is not only possible, but rather probable. In Psalm 22 we’re reminded that Jesus suffered too, and suffered much. His opening cry is a chilling one, but a very poignant one: “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Where is God in the hurt, and what is He doing?
