The Impartiality of God’s Judgement

The realities of God’s fairness and the responsibilities of all

Maybe you might remember that first line from Romans 1, where the Apostle Paul said his calling was ‘to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of [Jesus’] name.’ Even if you didn’t recall that, perhaps you’ll recall the message last Sunday which showed that every single one of us had a history of doing the exact opposite: we had fallen short of the glory of God through disobedience. Now, these are hard yards to ploughing through - and Paul isn’t even done with us yet - we still have chapter 2 to sit under! (I need to say again, the glorious salvation of Christ Will be detonating in chapter 3 - just you wait mate!)

This weekend, though, we’ll look at a particular fault that the Jewish nation had that might ring way too close to home. They had forgotten that God had expectations of them - his chosen people. They were boasting of their ‘ownership’ of God all the while forgetting that their calling = obedience. Now.... can we draw any parallels to the church? And our own local church? I think we can. This week, as we look at the Book, we’ll be requesting our Lord + Father in Heaven to smooth out our rough edges (yet again) for our better obedience, and for His glory.
