In Psalm 8 we’re given a beautiful call to worship in which we see the Creator God set in right perspective against the majesty of his creation; especially the pinnacle of his creation which is humanity. Yahweh’s immensity and glory are reflected in the sheer scale of the universe that he is created, and when set against that backdrop humanity pales into insignificance, and yet despite our seeming insignificance God has given us a royal task. In this psalm, we see that humanity is deeply humbled and yet highly honoured. However, this paradox doesn’t find its fullest expression until God the Son takes on human flesh and becomes one of us in order to restore us to our rightful place in relationship with himself.
