Romans 14:1–23 | Pursuing Peace

In all essentials concerning the gospel the Church must be committed to truth; yet in all the non-essentials of Christian living we just be committed to love. Our text calls us to “accept” each other in our disagreements. Is that what you are prone to do? Or do you prefer to establish walls of difference? There’s that common phrase, “good fences make good neighbours” but perhaps that’s not what our text says. Instead it encourages us to forgo our non-essential differences (those that are within the path of obedience!) so that love would reign. This week, we’re raising the profile of accepting each other as God has accepted us in Christ Jesus.
